A MIGHTY MOUNTAIN

The Canary Islands is a very beautiful place and the people there are very welcoming. In December we went there because we really wanted to surf. So we spent the first three days surfing endlessly, until we decided to visit the island.

On the fifth day we went to walk around the volcanoes of Fuerteventura, until we find something supernatural.

On the top of the mountain, things happen that I can't explain. It was as if the air was magical, as if your feet don't want to touch the ground.

Suddenly, when you stop walking, you feel lightness. We all looked at each other until one of us began to rise, he began to stop touching the ground. He was flying.
And then, we all fly too.

The only thing I can assure is that we didn't understand the reason for what it happened.

HOPE, THE COW

The cow that you can see in the photo looks like a cow as either: horns, ears, four legs and a tail. But no. Appearances can be deceiving, you should already know it.

We met this lovely animal in Norway. A friend invited my circus to visit that wonderful country. And this friend introduced us to Hope.

The cow doesn't have much extraordinary when you look outside only. But when you know her better, you realize that she's much more than a mere animal.

Every time you get lost, every time you need help, every time you feel like you're mourn or scared, she appears.

She appears to stay by your side until things are settled.

Even they said that once somebody saw her in two places at once.

FLOWER OF LIFE

One of my most mysterious is the Malaysian travel. When my circus and I were there on holiday, we felt very uncomfortable. There was something, but we didn't know what. It was as if the whole day someone was watching us.

Three days later, a woman approached me in the street trying to sell me fruits of the country. I agreed to try it. Within two hours of having eaten the fruit, I felt as if all the blood in my body was freezing, as if my eyes were forced to close.

I had been poisoned.

The village doctor came right away and with him he brought a flower. I didn't know what he pretended to do with that, but I didn't said nothing. I just wanted to heal me. The man picked up a petal of the flower and from this petal  he took a juice that he put directly in my mouth.
I fainted.
At 3 hours, I awoke, it was like if I reborn.

SHOOTING AT MOTHER'S DAY

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-22506029

Nineteen people have been wounded in a shooting at a Mother's Day parade in the US city of New Orleans, police say.

At Mother's Day 10 men, 7 women and 2 children were wounded by guns. The police said that after the gunfire, three men escaped from there. At this moment there was more than 200 people in the area of the shot.

People said that New Orleans is an area were there's many guns crime. The scene was situaded in a poor neighbourhood.

A woman said she saw a man with a shot in his arm so, they were all terrified. Luckely, nobody dies.

FBI spokeswoman Mary Beth Romig said they had "no reason to believe it was an act of terror, just street violence".

I' ve chosen this topic because I was really interested in reading it and when I've already done it, I thought it was a great topic for my blog.

NEW WORDS: wounded (ferits), gunfire (tiroteo), impromptu (improvitzat).

ADVANTADGES & DISAVANTADGES OF A GAP YEAR

A gap year is a year when people who were studying their whole life take a year to make a trip in another place. They can be volunteers in an ONG or they can decide to make a trip paying all the costs just to learn.

On the one hand a gap year can be very positive for your life because it gives you a lot of knowledge and a lot of different experiences, like speak another language. In addition with a gap year you can learn a lot of things about life and other traditions, culture and other ways of life.

On the other hand with a gap year you can forget a little of what you studied and it will be more difficult to study again when you return to your country. Also you have to know well where you want to go, because all places can be dangerous.

My conclusion is that a gap year is more positive than negative. I want to take a gap year because I want to learn a lot about other ways of life. I think all people have to do it one time, for their experiences.

BOKO HARAM RELEASES HOSTAGE

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-22510765

Nigeria's militant Islamist group Boko Haram has abducted women and children in response to the arrest of its members' wives and children, it says.

The Nigerian Boko Haram has done is first taken hostage. He has released a first video of women and children being hostage.

"We kidnapped some women and children, including teenage girls," he said.

He has admitted that he has caused a series of attacks in different cities, causing a huge number of victims.
A confidential person said that Boko Haram was paid a lot (more than $3m) to free hostage.

He is trying to create an Islamic state in Nigeria.

I've chosen this topic because I think that it's a bit unfair by Boko Haram. I think there are different and better ways to create a religion or anything else.

NEW WORDS: hostage (retenidos), retaliating (represalias).

BANGLADESH FACTORY

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-22476774

"The death toll from Bangladesh's worst industrial accident has passed 1,000 as recovery teams continue to find more bodies in the wreckage." BBC

On 24 April the Rana Plaza factory building has collapsed with about 2,500 people in it. From now, 2,437 people had been rescued but most of them were decomposed. Most of them were women.
Now, bodies are being taken to a nearby school.

Lot of families are there trying to find their parents, children, brothers or more.
Officials said the recovery operation will finish on Friday.

They said that aproximately, 650 bodies were recognized by their family. Authorities are taken DNA from all the victims to identify more people.

"We have found a huge number of bodies in the stairwell and under the staircases. When the building started to collapse, workers thought they would be safe under the staircases." Brigadier-General Siddiqul Alam
"Each time we moved a slab of concrete, we found a stack of bodies." Brigadier-General Siddiqul Alam

I've choosen this topic because the history of this misfortune has seemed a very "interesting" topic to post it on this blog.
To these misfortunes we can't do anything to avoid them, these things happen, whether by destiny, by a responsible person or something else.

NEW WORDS: wreckage (destrucció), stairwell (hueco de escalera), slabe of concrete (hormigón).

IRELAND

In this post, I'm going to talk about a wonderful place called Ireland.
Ireland is an island located in the north-west of continental Europe. It's the twentieth largest island in the world. It population is approximately 6.4 million.

Ireland's geography has a lot of mountains surrounding a central plain with some rivers, too. The island has lush vegetation because climate is a little extreme.. There, it rain a lot.

The Common Agricultural Policy has subsidies some requirements to preserve the agriculture. The forest covers about 12.6% of the country.

Ireland has made a large contribution to world literature in all its branches. Poetry in Irish is the oldest poetry in Europe. Irish traditional music and dance is the Riverdance.

I have choosen this place to describe because in September I will go there for a week with a friend. I really love the history of the country and all the mountains and vegetation too. I think Irish people are really good persons and their look is so different that I have the curiosity to learn more of them. I think it's a very good experience to do!

THE GUARDIAN

In Northern Ireland, there is a valley called Lagan. This valley is well known and very big too. We went there a couple of weeks. We hired a tour guide named Bobby. He made us visit some of the most beautiful parts of Northern Ireland. But he always talked about a site and its guardian.
At first we didn't understand exactly what he wanted to say but one day we ask him to visit that site.
We walked through a forest where the trees are taller than the buildings, where the sounds of the animals don't scare you. The forest conveys peace.
Then we arrived to an old bridge. We crossed. On the other hand, there was a trail. Then, in the middle of the path there was the guardian.
We expected to find a huge guardian with weapons and violent. But no.
This guardian is called Laika. It's a golden-retriever dog who appears to be about four years. But, do you know what Bobby told us?

"Laika é bás a fháil. Níos mó ná céad bliain ó shin go gcoinníonn sí an sliabh."

"Laika is immortal. It's been more than one hundred years ago that she keeps this mountain."
